As a Phoenix wedding photographer for destination weddings, it’s always a thrill when I get to capture love stories in new places. Peyton and Marshall’s journey started back in high school, and after nine years of being high school sweethearts—surviving long distance while Marshall attended college in South Dakota—their love story led me to a brand new destination.
After our beautiful session together in Phoenix near the Superstition Mountains, Peyton and Marshall asked if I would be willing to travel to South Dakota to photograph their wedding. Of course, I was beyond excited! Being a Phoenix wedding photographer means I’ve seen my share of stunning desert landscapes, but I also love the adventure that comes with destination weddings. And this was the perfect opportunity for another pin on my map!
South Dakota didn’t disappoint. The rolling farmlands and sprawling prairies created the most breathtaking backdrop for Peyton and Marshall’s big day. Their ceremony and reception took place at a charming local church filled with loved ones. The lighting was quite low, but as a wedding photographer, I’ve learned to embrace these challenges without using flash during the ceremony, capturing all those intimate moments while keeping the atmosphere as natural as possible. I always get asked if I can handle low lighting, and trust me, this wedding proves I can!
