As August rolled around in the West Valley of Arizona, I found myself preparing for a maternity session with Tyler and Tiffany. With the desert heat often making this a slower season for Memories by Candace, I was actually looking forward to this session as a chance to get out and capture some magic. However, the day started off with quite a bit of uncertainty. The sky was overcast, and as much as I love a good cloudy day, it left me wondering if we’d be able to catch that golden hour glow that adds so much warmth to my photos.
I reached out to Tiffany to give her a heads-up. I explained that while the clouds might mean we wouldn’t get that full, vibrant sunset, we could always reschedule to ensure that golden-hour look. But Tiffany, in true Arizona spirit, was completely unfazed. She was ready to embrace whatever nature had in store for us—and I’m so glad she did.
The evening turned out to be nothing short of stunning. The clouds didn’t just hang around; they created a canvas that was both soft and dramatic, with the sun peeking through just enough to give us those little moments of light that are pure magic. Tiffany had planned three outfit changes for the session—each one bringing its own vibe and style, from casual to bohemian to vibrant. The transitions were seamless, and it was like each look was meant to be paired with the different moods of the sky.
I could feel the excitement building inside me as we moved through the session. It’s that feeling I get when everything just clicks—the beauty of the moment, the connection between the couple, and even the way the environment plays along. I couldn’t wait to get home and start editing these photos, knowing they were going to be something special.
To top it all off, Tyler and Tiffany brought along their dog, Nala, who was a natural in front of the camera. At one point, Nala jumped up and placed her paws on Tiffany’s belly, creating one of those heartwarming moments that you just can’t plan for but are so grateful to capture.
What made this session even more meaningful was that Tiffany had been referred to me by one of my lovely clients at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park. It’s always such an honor when clients trust me enough to recommend me to their friends and colleagues. And when the evening wraps up with so much love and beauty captured in every shot, I’m reminded all over again why I love what I do.
This session was a perfect blend of natural beauty, personal connection, and the unpredictable charm of the Arizona desert. It’s one of those experiences that leaves me feeling so inspired and excited to share these maternity moments.
