Phoenix Family Photographer

Most of us feel a little awkward in front of a camera. There’s a personal reason I choose to stay behind mine.

But as a Phoenix family photographer, part of my job is helping you come out of your shell, relax, and actually have a good time with your family.

And trust me, I work with families ALL. THE. TIME.

You don’t need perfectly behaved kids. You don’t need to know how to pose. And you definitely don’t need everyone smiling at the camera for an hour.

I’ll guide you when you need it, help your kids warm up, and give you space to simply enjoy your family. Because those little moments in between? Those are the ones you’re going to want to remember 3, 5, or 10 years from now.

So what are you waiting for?

Client Testimonial

“10/10 every time!”

Candace is amazing! She is so fun and personable, which is so important to us since we have 2 young girls that can be shy. She was great at directing us and getting the kiddos (and hubby if we are honest) being comfortable in front of the camera. And then she turns around and delivers my gallery after only 3 DAYS!! Amazing, 10/10 every time!!

WHY THESE FAMILY PHOTOS MATTER SO MUCH

Years ago, I took the very last family photos of my brother-in-law who was later KIA in Iraq. I didn’t realize it at the time, but those images would become absolutely priceless. They were moments that my husband’s family will hold onto forever. Since then, I’ve photographed other families not knowing it would be their last moments together, too. And every single time, it reminds me that this job isn’t just about capturing smiles. It’s about preserving connection, love, and time.

Now as I have adult children of my own, I see this in a whole new way. My kids flip through old photo albums and suddenly remember details they had long forgotten – like maybe how they used to dress…the way their sister laughed when she was younger…or what our family dynamic looked like back then. Isn’t it wild how the brain does that? A single photo can bring back the tiniest, most beautiful pieces of our lives.

As a family photographer, it’s not just about clicking the button or even creating art (although I love doing that)…it’s about freezing this time right now so you can come back to it years from now and see your family all together. Because as parents, we blink…and our babies are grown. Trust me, I know that all too well. We think we will remember every little thing, but time softens the edges until we have something to hold onto.

So if you’ve been putting this off…waiting for life to slow down, for your toddler to behave better, or for the “right” time…this is your sign not to wait. These moments are happening now.

Frequently Asked Questions About Family Photos in Phoenix

What if my kids don’t cooperate during family photos?

First, your kids do not need to be perfectly behaved for family photos. I actually expect a little chaos! I’ll guide your family when we need a more traditional photo, but I also use movement, games, prompts, and plenty of patience to let kids be kids. Some of my favorite photos happen in those in-between moments when everyone stops worrying about the camera and starts having fun together.

Where are the best places for family photos in Phoenix?

That depends entirely on the look you want! Phoenix and the surrounding areas give us everything from desert mountains and cactus to green spaces, urban locations, and seasonal scenery. One of the first things I usually ask is, “Do you want green or desert?” From there, we can choose a location that fits your family, your home, and the overall feel you want for your photos. When you book a full session with me, I will send you a location guide to help in the planning process.

What should we wear for family photos?

Start with colors that coordinate instead of matching everyone exactly. Neutrals are always a great choice because they photograph beautifully and work well with so many Arizona locations. From there, you can bring in color, texture, and layers that fit your family and the look you want. Most importantly, choose clothes you feel comfortable and confident wearing. You should still look like you.

When is the best time of year for family photos in Phoenix?

There really isn’t one perfect time because every season in Arizona gives us something different. Fall and winter bring cooler temperatures and beautiful desert sessions, spring can bring wildflowers, and summer is a great time to head toward greener locations or higher elevations. Even Phoenix summers can work with the right location and timing. The best time really depends on the scenery you want, your family’s schedule, and how you want your photos to feel.

“Amazing works of art in our home!”

My family has been using Candace as our family photographer since we moved to Surprise, Arizona. From school photos to adoption photos, baby announcements, and just regular family photos, Candace does it all. Her knowledge of the area has allowed us to capture amazing photos in some really cool places, such as the sunflowers, cotton fields, the mountainside, and the local civic center. The moments she captured on her camera have made amazing works of art in our home. Highly recommend reaching out to Candace, as I know she will do you right.
