I have to tell you about this desert maternity session in Phoenix, AZ. Normally, I don’t photograph in the desert in the morning. One reason is because the desert sun can be harsh, especially in the morning. But after a decade of living in the Phoenix desert, I finally found a location where it’s doable and possible. This morning with Marc and Breanna for their maternity photoshoot was absolutely perfect. We arrived at the desert about an hour after sunrise. It wasn’t too dark, and as we continued our session, we experienced the beautiful golden hour morning light. Golden hour is typically 1-2 hours after sunrise.
I was pleasantly surprised with how everything turned out. Breanna and Marc knew I had never photographed at this location in the morning and trusted me completely. Given the hot summer, they were hoping for an early morning time slot to beat the heat. Marc and I are both not early risers, which is honestly one of the biggest reasons morning sessions need to be requested in advance at Memories by Candace. I want to give my clients my best self, and mornings are for coffee. 😉 Another reason is that morning lighting can be inconsistent with my usual work. But I was truly happy with these maternity photos and felt they deserved a spot on my website.
Breanna also had three different outfit changes, all in pink. Can you guess the baby’s gender? Each dress gave her miraculous pregnant body a different look: one was a little more loose-fitting, another snugly embraced her belly, and the last one was a longer, elegant lace dress.
I’ll be seeing Breanna and Marc again soon, as they purchased my Belly + Baby package. I’ll get to meet their little one too! I can’t wait.
