Come along with me as I take you through an amazing senior session at Heritage Square in Downtown Phoenix. This spot is one of my all-time favorites for senior portraits because it offers such a variety of backdrops all in one place. Our star of the day, Cambrie, a delightful senior, quickly got comfortable and started having a blast, giving me all sorts of fun looks and expressions throughout our hour-long session.

Cambrie had just graduated from the American Leadership Academy in Waddell, AZ, a few days before our shoot. It was wonderful learning about her many talents – she’s played basketball and has a passion for music, playing both the piano and the guitar. We even got some fantastic shots of her with her guitar on a rooftop garage, with the Downtown Phoenix skyline as her backdrop. It was pure magic, capturing her strumming away with the cityscape behind her. I love when seniors bring items that showcase their personality and passions – it really adds a personal touch to the photos.

Another highlight of Heritage Square is its charming flower and garden area, which Cambrie loved. We made sure to capture some beautiful shots there as well. This location, nestled right in the heart of the city, offers so many different vibes and settings.

One of the unique aspects of shooting here is chasing the sunlight. The tall buildings in Downtown Phoenix can quickly cast shadows, so we often find ourselves on top of a parking garage to catch those golden sun rays before they disappear. Despite the limited window for that perfect golden hour light, the variety of looks we can achieve in this park is stunning.

All in all, Heritage Square in Downtown Phoenix is a gem for senior sessions, providing an array of gorgeous backdrops and a fun, dynamic experience for both the photographer and the senior.
