There’s something incredibly special about capturing the connection between older siblings and a new baby—especially in a blended family where love is at the heart of it all. This in-home newborn session was one of those moments where everything came together beautifully, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have been a part of it.

Mom and Dad had originally planned for a session earlier, but life had other plans when sickness made its way through the family. Thankfully, they followed my newborn session prep guide, and when we finally got together in Surprise, AZ —over two weeks later—everything went off without a hitch. Baby was content, the older siblings were patient and loving, and the entire session felt as peaceful as it should be.

One of my favorite parts of this session was watching the older siblings interact with their baby sister. At 11 and 12, they were so gentle and proud, naturally falling into the roles of protectors and nurturers. Their bond was undeniable, and it was important to me to capture that in a way that felt authentic. The way big sister’s flowy dress laid as she sat cradling her baby sister? Absolutely dreamy. And big brother’s quiet but strong presence was a reminder that this little one is already so loved.

We used the master bedroom for most of the session—it was spacious, full of natural light, and created the perfect cozy atmosphere for those snuggled-up family shots. Seeing all of them together, wrapped up in this new chapter of life, was a reminder of why I love what I do.

Blended families hold a special kind of magic. They remind us that love isn’t about where we come from but about the connections we build. This session wasn’t just about welcoming a new baby—it was about celebrating the family they’ve created together.
