Reese was a pleasure to photograph for his senior photos downtown at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Basilica, a calm location that set the tone for history and intention. It’s not a spot that I use often for senior portraits, but that made it even more special. There was something about pairing this architectural space with Reese’s thoughtful personality that just made it work.
Reese attends Tempe Preparatory Academy in Arizona, and from the moment I met him it was clear how much he genuinely loves to learn. Not in a forced or performative way, but in a quiet, deep, sincere, and curious way. His mom described him as very kind, encouraging to others, and so hardworking, and you can feel that in the way he carries himself. These photos weren’t loud, flashy senior portraits. They were grounded to him as an individual with the things he loves.
One of my favorite things about this session is that Reese made it personal and included his two favorite things to his senior photo session. He brought his books and his adorable dog, Penny. His books leaned toward philosophy…thought provoking books that were a natural extension of who he is. Incorporating them into his senior photos weren’t about making just a prop, it was about honoring who he was during this season of his life.
