During one of my recent in-home lifestyle maternity sessions, I had a conversation with a dad. We were chatting, and he expressed his preference for the genuine, unposed photos over the more traditional posed ones.
As we dove deeper into the topic, I shared with him how I, too, have been falling more and more in love with lifestyle photography. It’s all about capturing those real, candid, and natural moments that truly reflect the emotions and connections between people. It’s like freezing a genuine slice of life in a photograph.
Interestingly, he seemed a bit puzzled when I mentioned “lifestyle photos.” He didn’t realize there was a specific term for this style of photography. So, I explained to him that lifestyle photography encompasses exactly what he had just described to me – those authentic, unscripted moments that make for truly memorable images.
What’s fascinating is that I’ve noticed this preference for lifestyle photos among many dads, including my own husband. Perhaps it’s because these types of photos feel less staged and more relaxed, allowing everyone to be themselves and enjoy the experience without feeling pressured or stressed.
So, I completely understand why dads (and many others) gravitate towards lifestyle photography. It’s all about capturing the genuine moments that reflect the true essence of a person or a family, creating lasting memories that are cherished for years to come.
