Some sessions take a little longer to come together, and this one truly felt like forever in the making. As an engagement photographer in North Phoenix, I know how unpredictable desert weather and life can be. Caleb and Lauren first booked a session with me months ago, and we were all excited to finally meet in person. But our first attempt was completely rained out, and our second try had to be rescheduled due to an urgent family emergency on my end (my dad passed away).
Through all of that, Caleb and Lauren were incredibly patient and kind. Their flexibility meant the world to me. I don’t make a habit of rescheduling…especially not twice, but when we finally got to meet out at their favorite desert spot near Apache Wash Trailhead, it was absolutely worth the wait.
Caleb and Lauren have been together for five years. Their love story started at Paradise Valley Community College in 2020, just before everything shut down. Lauren had already taken an interest in Caleb before the pandemic hit, and their connection only deepened as they navigated all that uncertainty side by side.
Lauren is now a passionate school teacher and Caleb works in construction. Both are Arizona natives, and the desert has always been part of their story. Choosing this peaceful, golden-lit trailhead in North Phoenix made their session even more meaningful and as a local engagement photographer, I love when couples choose places that feel personal to them.
Their bond is something you can truly feel. They even have matching tattoos that mark a car accident they experienced together, one of those life-changing events, that brings people closer in an unshakable way. Their connection is quiet but powerful, full of history and heart.
These photos are their official elopement announcement, with their big day planned for August. We spent the evening capturing soft desert light, laughter, and moments that just felt like them.
