There’s something incredibly special about following a couple’s journey from engagement to parenthood. It’s like watching a beautiful story unfold, chapter by chapter. In 2021, I had the joy of photographing Kaylee and Josh’s engagement photos. Our connection goes back even further, to when my youngest daughter and I volunteered at a horse sanctuary in North Phoenix with Kaylee’s mom. Then, in 2022, I had the honor of capturing their wedding day. Now, here we are in 2024, and I’m thrilled to share highlights from their recent maternity session at the stunning Lake Pleasant Regional Park.

When Kaylee and Josh reached out to schedule their maternity photos, I knew we needed to find a location that would not only be stunning but also offer a bit of relief from the sweltering Arizona summer heat. After some brainstorming, I suggested Lake Pleasant Regional Park. Nestled in the Arizona desert, this picturesque park is an oasis with its shimmering lake surrounded by arid landscapes. The combination of water and desert scenery provided the perfect backdrop for this special session.

From the moment we arrived at Lake Pleasant, it was clear that this session would be magical. Kaylee, with her radiant glow, was absolutely stunning. She wore a flowing, pastel dress that complemented the natural beauty of our surroundings. Josh, ever the doting husband, was right by her side, his excitement palpable.

One of the sweetest moments was when Josh couldn’t stop kissing Kaylee’s belly. It was as if he couldn’t wait to shower his unborn son, Bentley, with all the love in his heart. Each kiss was filled with tenderness and anticipation, making for some incredibly touching photographs. The joy and love between Kaylee and Josh were undeniable, and I felt truly honored to capture these intimate moments.

As we moved around Lake Pleasant, we found various spots that offered a perfect blend of light and scenery. The desert backdrop, combined with the serene lake, created a unique and captivating setting. Kaylee and Josh embraced every moment, whether it was walking along the rocky shoreline, or simply holding each other close with the vast desert and lake stretching out in front of them.

 The Arizona sun can be relentless, but the cool breeze off the lake made our time together comfortable and enjoyable. I don’t even think Kaylee had to stop once to hydrate or take a break. The windy breeze by the water at Lake Pleasant is perfect this time of year.

As I look back on this maternity session at Lake Pleasant Regional Park, I’m filled with gratitude for the journey I’ve shared with Kaylee and Josh. From their engagement to their wedding, and now as they prepare to welcome Bentley into their lives, it’s been a privilege to document their story. Seeing Kaylee’s glowing smile and Josh’s loving gestures reminded me of why I love what I do.

I can’t wait to meet Bentley, the newest addition to their family, and continue capturing their beautiful moments. Here’s to many more chapters in Kaylee and Josh’s love story, filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories.
