It was right when the Pandemic hit and we already had these maternity photos scheduled in Phoenix at Papago Park in Phoenix, AZ. I was actually trying to keep this couple away from people on purpose. You see mom and dad have tried for 7 years to have a baby. This baby ended up being an IVF baby. So life was a lot more fragile when it came to being in mom’s belly. I didn’t know what was going on at the start of the pandemic and that’s just when this took place. The world shut down except for the outdoors. As a photographer, part of the weight on my shoulders is keeping someone safe especially during times like this.
Mom-to-be really wanted to go to the Hole in the Rock, but it was swarmed with people so dad-to-be and I decided against it as their whole pregnancy was a miracle in itself, and we didn’t want to risk anything with Covid going around.
The red dress she wore popped at this location and we got some great maternity photos. During this session, a car stopped on the side of the road and they were happy to see me photographing this session. It was joy to them in what was happening around the country during this time of COVID. That’s always great to hear as they were speaking outside their car window. These memories and moments are joyous occasions to celebrate and I’m glad we didn’t have it get in our way but we were safe about it.
Papago Park is beautiful photography location, but I do like to share the biggest tip for this location. It is crowded on the weekends as just a popular outdoor family spot for fishing near the water or family picnics. So I definitely suggest photographing there during the week.
